MovieMan and Marquee Terms of Service

Effective October 20, 2026.

Marquee connection revision: 2026-10-17-marquee-v1.

These Terms cover MovieMan and Marquee, its companion film-discovery service, operated by MovieMan. Our Privacy Policy explains how both services handle information. For help, contact support@movieman.ca.

1. Accounts and eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum legal age in your jurisdiction, and provide accurate account information. You sign in to MovieMan with Google. Keep your sign-in secure and tell us if you believe someone is using your account without permission.

You can browse Marquee without an account. Saving preferences and Interested/Not interested choices requires a MovieMan account and an explicit connection to Marquee. MovieMan shares the limited account identity described in the Privacy Policy. Marquee keeps its own private film profile. Connecting it does not share your film preferences with other users or subscribe you to email.

2. Using the services

The services are for personal, non-commercial use unless we agree otherwise. Do not use them unlawfully, upload malicious code, interfere with their operation or other users, attempt unauthorized access, or submit illegal, infringing or hateful content.

Showtimes, availability, ratings, posters and other film information come from theatres and third parties and may change or be incomplete. Check the theatre’s official listing before travelling or buying tickets. Recommendations reflect the preferences and information available to us; they do not guarantee that you will enjoy a film or that a screening will take place. External purchases are between you and the relevant provider.

3. Your content and private choices

You retain ownership of content you submit. You give MovieMan permission to store and use it as needed to provide the features you choose. Content you deliberately share through MovieMan social features may be displayed to the audience you select. We may remove content that violates these Terms.

Your private Marquee preferences and film choices are used to save your programme, sort recommendations and prepare an optional newsletter. They are not public user content and are not licensed for public promotion. See the Privacy Policy for providers, export, deletion and limited retention.

4. Optional newsletters

Marquee newsletters require a separate choice of schedule and are independent of Google sign-in and MovieMan marketing consent. They include active films marked Interested in each scheduled issue, plus newly listed films that match your preferences. Not interested films are excluded. We may skip an issue when there are no eligible films.

You can change your schedule, choose No newsletter or unsubscribe at any time. Each newsletter identifies its sender and includes contact information, a valid mailing address and an unsubscribe option.

5. Intellectual property and other services

The service software, names and branding belong to MovieMan or their licensors. Film artwork, film information and third-party marks belong to their respective owners. Except where permitted by law or these Terms, do not copy or redistribute materials without permission.

MovieMan uses Google/Firebase for accounts and application operations. Marquee uses Cloudflare hosting and D1, with Google-hosted MovieMan servers preparing its newsletter previews and optional email messages. Resend delivers email. Theatre, film and other external links may have separate terms. No additional Google user-data access is granted to Marquee by connecting the services.

6. Export, deletion and suspension

You can export your data and manage deletion through MovieMan’s Account & Data controls after the required security checks. Deleting only Marquee removes its profile and preserves MovieMan. Reconnecting creates a fresh Marquee profile with newsletters off. Deleting your MovieMan account also removes your connected Marquee profile. A temporary service outage may leave deletion pending and resumable rather than complete.

The Privacy Policy describes limited consent proof and provider backup or email retention that can remain after deletion. Contact support if you cannot access the controls. We may suspend access to protect users or the services, or when these Terms are violated.

7. Availability and liability

The services are provided as available and “as is,” subject to rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service or perfectly accurate listings. To the extent permitted by law, MovieMan is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from use of the services.

8. Changes

We may update the services and these Terms. We will provide notice of significant changes and request agreement where required. The Marquee connection disclosure identifies the policy version being acknowledged. Accepting MovieMan’s existing terms does not by itself record acceptance of a later Marquee connection disclosure.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Saskatchewan, Canada, subject to mandatory rights in your jurisdiction. Disputes will be addressed in the courts of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
